Talk of the Town

Chrissie Hynde, lead singer of The Pretenders, was born on September 7, 1951.

It's been a while since we celebrated the birthday of a Rock cutie of the eighties, but we can't pass up on Chrissie Hynde's big 60! Yeow!!! I've been an enthusiast of her music since she was half of her current age.

Looking back, I appreciate her music more today. Given the rotating composition of The Pretenders over the years, it's amazing that she could create a consistent and distinct sound and style. She really puts the emphasis on the importance of the lead singer in a rock band. Sure, the others might be fine musicians, but it's the lead that expresses the soul of a band.

So, let's wish Chrissie a Happy Birthday and listen to some fine music.

It's tough to select my Top Three Pretender songs, but here are my choices for today. ;-)

Enjoy!!!
